President of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Lee Myung-bak on March 23 made an inspection tour to selected areas in Seoul which will be venues for the March 26-27 Nuclear Security Summit.

As many as 58 leaders and representatives from 53 countries across the world, the United Nations and the European Union are expected to attend the summit, where measures to prevent nuclear terrorism will be discussed.

The RoK has implemented a series of security measures with the aim of ensuring the successful hosting of the two-day event.

According to Cho Hyun-Oh, a representative from RoK’s national police agency, the country has deployed about 36,000 police and 5,000 soldiers and security personnel to tackle terrorist threats, including the risk of attack on computer networks.

The second nuclear summit will be one of the largest global events the RoK has ever hosted. The first summit was organised in Washington , US in 2010.-VNA
