RoK to open consulate in central Da Nang city
Da Nang (VNA) – The Republic
of Korea (RoK) plans to open a Consulate Office in the central city of Da Nang
to boost tourism and investment.
The RoK Ambassador to Vietnam, Lee
Hyuk, announced this information at a meeting with the city’s leaders during a
recent working visit to Da Nang.
Korean tourists are the second largest
segment of foreign tourist arrivals to Da Nang. More than 430,000 arrived last
year, nearly 20 percent of total foreign travellers.
At the same time, Korean investors
poured 244 million into 83 projects, the fourth biggest foreign investment in Da
Nang.
Both Vietnamese and Korean budget
airlines have operated daily flights between Korean cities and Da Nang since
2014.
T’way Air, a low-cost airline based in
Seoul, has launched a new direct flight connecting Da Nang and Daegu. This is
the company’s third route between the two countries and is in addition to
direct flights from Da Nang to Pusan and Muan.
According to the city’s tourism
department, there are 12 flights from the RoK to Da Nang every week, carrying
an average of 1,500 passengers.-VNA
