RoK to take warship sinking case to UNSC

According to Lee Dong-kwan, spokesman of the RoK President, President Lee Myung-bak is scheduled to deliver a public speech on May 24 on his government’s countermeasures to respond the sinking of the navy warship.
President Lee will also mention a plan to bring the case to the UN Security Council, the spokesman said, adding that he will also urge the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to take relevant measures.
On May 20, the RoK announced the outcome of investigations over the Cheonan incident made by a group of civilian and military experts, which said the warship that went into waters near a tense maritime border with the DPRK was torpedoed by the DPRK.
The DPRK immediately rejected Seoul ’s claims and said it would dispatch inspectors to the RoK to verify the case.
In a relevant development, the RoK has raised its terrorist alert to level 2 throughout the country and among its missions abroad./.
