President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations Vu Xuan Hong has presented the Friendship Order to Choi Young Joo, President of the Republic of Korea (RoK)-Vietnam Friendship Association (KOVIFA).

Speaking at the awarding ceremony in Hanoi on September 9, Hong said the order was given in recognition of Choi’s significant contributions to promoting the friendship and cooperation between the two countries’ people, especially in cultural exchange, education, investment-economics and charity.

KOVIFA’s President said he is honoured to receive the noble award, adding that he will do his best to further enhance the friendship between the two countries in the coming time.

Since KOVIFA was established 12 years ago, Choi has voluntarily provided financial assistance to the association. Since he was elected as its President in 2009, KOVIFA’s activities have seen practical developments with programmes to support Vietnamese people living and working in the RoK and RoK-Vietnam families in the country, and scholarships to Vietnamese students.

In addition, he has also made great contributions to boosting investment cooperation between Vietnam and the RoK through calling on RoK enterprises to invest in the Southeast Asian nation.-VNA
