A high-ranking delegation from the Romanian army led by its Chief of the General Staff, Admiral Gheorghe Marin, was received by senior Vietnamese military officers in Hanoi on April 17.

The delegation started its visit to Vietnam on April 14 at the invitation of Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Khac Nghien, Chief the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.

At the talks with the Romanian delegation, Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nghien welcomed the visit, saying that it would help develop the traditional friendship between the two armies in particular and the two countries in general.

Admiral Gheorghe Marin said he was pleased with Vietnam’s socio-economic development and expressed his belief that the visit would yield many good results, helping consolidate and develop the cooperation between the two armies for peace, stability and prosperous development of each country and the world at large.

On the same day, the Romanian military delegation paid a courtesy visit to Minister of Defence General Phung Quang Thanh.

During their stay in Vietnam , Admiral Gheorghe Marin and his entourage laid wreaths at the Memorial to the Martyrs and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum as well as visited the Naval Command and the Land Force Officers School No. 1./.
