The programme on holding Vietnamese goods fairs in rural areas has reaped success this year, generating total revenues of over 23.6 billion VND (1.1 million USD), according to the Business Association of High-quality Vietnamese Goods.

The association’s member companies have organised a total of 22 fairs across the country in 2013, winning local people’s trust in Vietnamese brands.

The programme, which entered its fourth year this year, aims to change consumers’ behaviour towards buying more locally-made products and help businesses expand their domestic market share.

Next year, the association plans to organise 24 fairs in 13 provinces and cities nationwide, such as Bac Lieu, Dong Thap and Kien Giang provinces.

The association’s chairwoman Vu Kim Hanh said 2014 will be an important time for Vietnamese businesses to strengthen its sale networks from urban to rural areas, in preparation for the opening up of market in 2015 in line with several free trade agreements between Vietnam and other countries.-VNA
