A get-together was held in Ho Chi Minh City on June 9 to celebrate the 20th Russia Day (June 12).

Addressing the event, President of the HCM City’s Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association Hoang Huu Nghia and Russian Consul General to HCM City Vladimir Borisovich Klimov affirmed that the event on June 12, 1990 marked a new start in the Russia’s history. The day has been considered as the National Day, the holiday of freedom, peace and symbol of national unification.

They were pleased with that Russia’s achievements over the past 20 years in economic development, political stability and national strengthening, which have been recognised at the international arena.

They also expressed their pleasures at the on-going development of friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and Russia. The recent Russia visit by President Nguyen Minh Triet was an important affirmation of the strategic partnership between the two countries. The ties were not affected by changes of global situation and based on friendship and trust, meeting benefits of both nations and for peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the world at large./.
