Hanoi (VNA) – As many as 100 winners of Mathematical and Russian language Olympiads in 2016 were hounoured at a ceremony held by the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) in Hanoi on May 16.

Addressing the event, Pham Quang Hung, head of the International Cooperation Department under the Ministry of Education and Training, said his ministry will consider granting scholarships to eligible students to study in Russia.

The ministry is now in charge of nearly 2,400 Vietnamese students in education institutes across Russia, he said.

The official used the occasion to thank the Russian Embassy and the RCSC for organising annual contests to fuel Vietnamese students’ love for the language as well as the land, people and culture of Russia.

The former Soviet Union, present Russia, and members of the Commonwealth of Independent States have helped Vietnam form a strong contingent of officials and engineers who have played a significant role in national construction and development, Hung noted.-VNA
