Russia will coordinate with Vietnam , especially the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia , to set up a working group to deal with issues regarding Overseas Vietnamese (OV) in the country.

Director of the Russia Federal Migration Service, Konstantin Romodonovski made this statement at his meeting with visiting Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Thanh Son on May 24.

Deputy FM Son, who is also Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, said the Vietnamese Party, State and Government pay special attention to the situation of the Vietnamese community in Russia .

Vietnam wished OV in the European country would live and work legally and abide by local law, serving the interests of both countries and acting as a bridge to develop bilateral friendship as well as boosting the Vietnam-Russia strategic partnership.

Romodonovski said Russian leaders also shared the same views with Vietnamese leaders on policies relating to the Vietnamese community in Russia and the Russian community in Vietnam .

He suggested that the two countries should work harder in migration work to create conditions for OV in Russia and the Russian community in Vietnam to contribute to each other’s economies and foster bilateral friendship.

To help the Vietnamese community in Russia stabilise and develop their lives, the two countries needed to complete a legal framework and sign more agreements in migration and employment./.
