Russia wishes to strengthen ties with Asian countries: Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said his country will foster relations with its traditional Asian partners such as Vietnam and India, which hold increasingly important roles in the world.

At an annual meeting with Russian ambassadors and permanentrepresentatives in Moscow on July 1, he said Russia will also furthercommunication with Japan and other countries, including members of theAssociation of Southeast Asian Nations.

The event also heard Putin’s viewpoints on the Ukraine issue and Russia’s relations with other western countries.-VNA

Indian airline launches direct Mumbai–Hanoi route

The new route operates four flights a week and is the first direct Mumbai–Hanoi service operated by an Indian airline. Hanoi has become Akasa Air’s seventh international destination and its second destination in Southeast Asia, after Phuket, Thailand.
