Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Nov. 5 sent his message of condolences to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung over great losses in lives and property caused by Typhoon Mirinae in the central region of Vietnam.

In the message, he expressed his deep sympathy to the Vietnamese Government and people, especially families of death victims and wished that the injured would soon recover.

The death toll from typhoon Mirinae hit 116, the Central Steering Committee for Storm and Flood Prevention reported on November 7.

The central province of Phu Yen was hardest hit, losing 73 people to the disaster, followed by Binh Dinh with 22, and Khanh Hoa, 13.

Seven people, all in Phu Yen province, remain missing and 125 others reportedly injured, the committee said.

Asset damages from the typhoon, the 11 th that hit Vietnam so far, were initially estimated to stand at nearly 5 trillion VND./.
