The Russian national television channel “Rossia 1” has broadcast a programme on former Vietnamese volunteers who fought with the Russian Red Army to fight fascism and protect Moscow .

Radio the Voice of Russia said on October 25 that the programme was to mark Russian President Dmitri Medvedev’s forthcoming visit to Vietnam .

The programme was made based on documentation about Vietnamese Red Army soldiers collected by the radio over the last 40 years.

The documents included information on the names of Vietnamese soldiers who had fought on the outskirts of Moscow in December, 1941, six months after the fascists had attacked Russia , as well as how they arrived in Russia , according to observer Aleksei Sunnerberg.

Sunnerberg said that he hoped to receive more information about the Vietnamese Red Army soldiers after the programme had been aired./.
