Russian vows strong surgery technical transfer

The pledges made by Prof. Dr. Khristo Takhchidi, the complex generaldirector, to State President Nguyen Minh Triet on the first day of hisfive-day visit to Vietnam , included stronger cooperation andapplication of advanced ophthalmological technology on a larger scale.

He highlighted the establishment of the ExcimerLaser Department to treat refractive eye disorders at theVietnam-Russia Ophthalmology Hospital in Hanoi and the transferof technology for treatment of children’s amblyopia as evidence.

The Hanoi-based Vietnam-Russia Ophthalmology Hospital hasprovided medical check-ups and treatment for some 31,000 patients overthe past two years.

“The Fyodorov EyeMicro-surgery Complex would do its best to fulfil the mission as asupplier of ophthalmological services based on high technology forVietnamese people”, the Russian ophthalmologist said.

Khristo Takhchidi’s visit was welcomed by President Triet as aconsiderable contribution to stronger relations between theophthalmological sector in particular and medical services in the twocountries in general.

Russia is a strategicpartner and a loyal friend of the Vietnamese people, the State Presidentemphasised, highlighting the training of many generations of Vietnamesemedical doctors by the former Soviet Union and Russia .

Triet also hailed services provided by the Vietnam-RussiaOphthalmology Hospital , which has benefited many thousands ofVietnamese patients, including thousands of critical cases.

The hospital’s humanitarian services have also brought light to anumber of disadvantaged patients who were unable to afford high-qualitymedical services.

The State leader warmly welcomedthe initiative to set up another joint-venture ophthalmologicalhospital, in Ho Chi Minh City, and called for a similar move to otherlocalities as well as further transfer of technology in order toincrease the number of beneficiaries of Russian hi-tech medicalservices./.

Vietnam, China step up theoretical exchanges, share Party-building experience

During his working visit to China, Nguyen Xuan Thang, member of the 13th Party Central Committee's Political Bureau and Chairman of the Central Theory Council, had a meeting with Li Shulei, Politburo member, Secretary of the CPC Central Committee’s Secretariat, and Head of the CPC Central Committee’s Publicity Department, during which the two sides held in-depth discussions on theoretical research, practical reviews and Party building, and agreed to further strengthen cooperation and experience sharing between the two Parties.

Vietnam, Russia seek stronger cooperation in policy research, training

Head of the Committee's Commission for Policies and Strategies Nguyen Thanh Nghi expressed appreciation for the RANEPA and its predecessor institutions for their contributions to training and fostering Vietnamese officials. Over the past decades, nearly 1,000 Vietnamese officials and leaders have studied and received training there, many of whom have gone on to hold important positions in Vietnam’s political system.
