A project aimed at providing safe water and improving sanitation for the central region kicked off in Dong Hoi city, the central province of Quang Binh on September 9.

The Central Region Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project has a total investment of 50 million USD, of which 45 million USD comes from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Implemented between now and 2016, the project will focus on building and improving clean water and sanitation services for 350,000 rural residents in six provinces, namely Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Nam and Binh Dinh.

In the first phase, the project will include six pilot sub-projects and build between six and nine new sub-projects each year.

The project will be jointly carried out by the National Centre for Rural Clean Water and Sanitation under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the CDM - Nippon Koei - Vinaconsult consultancy group./.
