Safety contract for North-South railway signed

A contract, part of a project on increasing safety on the North-South railway, was inked between the Vietnam Railway Corporation and a group of contractors in Hanoi on Feb. 9.

Under the contract, Tekken, Yokogawa, Thang Longand Marubeni will undertake the building of 10 bridges on the railwaylinking the capital city of Hanoi with Ho Chi Minh City, and othersupporting infrastructure projects.

It is expected that the contract will be carried out on April 1 and finished after 30 months.

The project is jointly funded by the Japanese Government’s OfficialDevelopment Assistance and Vietnam’s state budget. It includes 44bridges, a railway station and other relevant construction projects./.

Memorial service held for 731 fallen soldiers in Ho Chi Minh City

From June 23 to October 5, Team K74 and other forces recovered 731 sets of martyrs’ remains from the park. Biological samples and DNA samples collected from relatives of unidentified fallen soldiers are being analysed and stored in the national gene bank to support identification efforts.

Saigon River pedestrian bridge set to be joined on October 21

The assembly comprises a main bridge structure weighing about 1,400 tonnes and a specialised steel supporting frame weighing around 2,000 tonnes. During testing, about 30 self-propelled modular transporters were used to lift the assembly 40cm off the ground for technical inspections. Sensors and monitoring equipment recorded key parameters.
