Seoul (VNA) - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on October 16 revealed that it had sent 600,000 USD to Indonesia after earthquakes and a tsunami devastated the country’s Central Sulawesi.

The aid was announced after the province was hit by  6.1- magnitude and 7.5- magnitude quakes and a subsequent tsunami in late September, which left over 2,070 dead and more than 10,500 others injured, damaged many houses and infrastructure facilities and washed away a vast area of crops.

Samsung Electronics said that the money had been sent to the Indonesia Red Cross to support the building of houses and assist the victims.

The company also plans to open a Samsung care centre in the region to provide food and clothes for disaster-affected victims and repair household commodities damaged by disasters.

In July, Samsung Electronics also assisted 200,000 USD for Lombok – another island of Indonesia seriously affected by an earthquake.-VNA
