Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) Co. Tlt has opened Samsung Nanum Village to bring a more modern life to resident of the northern Bac Ninh province’s Thuy Hia commune.

Built at a cost of more than 20 billion VND (909,000 USD), with 15 billion VND (681,820 USD) funded by SEV and the remainder from local funding, the village has a cultural house, a kindergarten, primary and secondary schools, along with a medical centre.

Starting construction in October 2013, the village, whose name means sharing in Korean, is expected to provide a comprehensive environment for the commune’s children.

The village is one of Samsung corporate citizenship initiatives that targets low-income and underprivileged areas for sustainable, economic development.

Architect Ryu Choon-so, who designed the World Cup 2002 stadium in the Republic of Korea, devoted himself to creating the design model of the village.-VNA
