The Samut Prakarn Provincial Administrative Organisation (PAO) plans to use a 100-million budget to raise the profile of the province as a tourism destination in the central region of Thailand.

PAO Deputy Chief Sukanya Asavahame said that the money will be used to promote a campaign entitled the “Nine Wonders of Samut Prakarn” to draw more Thai and foreign visitors to the province, located on the outskirts of Bangkok .

Nine “Wonder” tourist attractions will be promoted during the campaign, including the Chulachomklao Fort, Sakhla Village, the Phra Samut Chedi Temple, paintings found in certain temples, the 100-year-old Klong Suan Floating Market and Bang Nampueng Floating Market, the Traditional Lotus Festival of Wat Luang Po Toh, and the local products.

Around five-million tourists visit Samut Prakarn annually, generating about 3-4 billion THB and the province expects to enjoy 10 percent growth in tourism revenues this year.-VNA
