Save the Children helps poor families in Quang Binh

More than 840 million VND (39,500 USD) were given to poor households in Bo Trach district, central Quang Binh province by the Save the Children in Vietnam on December 24.
More than 840 million VND (39,500 USD) were given to poor households inBo Trach district, central Quang Binh province by the Save the Childrenin Vietnam on December 24.

The money will helplocals in Phuc Trach and Son Trach communes repair their houses whichwere severely damaged by super-typhoon Wutip in late September.

On December 23, the organisation provided 827 million VND fordisaster-hit households in Quang Phuong and Quang Long communes in QuangTrach district.

It is also providing clothes to 718 local students.

This is part of a 130,000 USD programme by the organisation to helpQuang Binh families affected by the storm. The programme hopes tobenefit about 1,200 households, including 2,400 children in theprovince.

Country Director Gunnar Andersen saidthat in the time ahead Save the Children will continue calling for moresupport to help locals overcome consequences by disasters.-VNA

FLC appeal hearing postponed, giving more time for compensation

After discussions and listening to opinions from lawyers, defendants, and victims present at the trial, the judicial panel stated that postponing the appeal hearing for Trinh Van Quyet, ex-chairman of FLC Group, is necessary to ensure the rights of the victims.
