Hanoi (VNA) - The State Bank of Vietnam (SVB) has awarded a certificate of merit and commemorative medals to Deutsche Gesellschaftfür Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH Vietnam leaders and managers.

The awards were presented by Deputy Governor of SVB Nguyen Dong Tien to Jochem Lange, Country Director of GIZ Vietnam, at a ceremony held in Hanoi on December 10, recognising the GIZ for its outstanding contribution to the banking cooperation between Vietnam and Germany.

Within the cooperation framework between the two governments, which is ongoing since 1993, the German government through GIZ has continuously provided programmes and projects to support the development of Vietnam’s banking sector in the context of economic transformation and comprehensive international integration.

GIZ has been proactively cooperating and supporting SBV in the establishment of legal and institutional frameworks required for implementing its state management functions and ensuring sound and effective operation of the banking system, according to a report from the SBV.

Prominent examples are the Law on State Bank of Vietnam, Law on Credit Institutions, monetary policy and its instruments, in particular, open market operation instrument, anti-dollarisation strategy internal audit and internal control framework for commercial banks, the report says. — VNA
