The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) will work with the World Bank (WB) on a funding agreement for the existing project on rural hygiene and clean water in eight Red river delta provinces.
The work, as agreed by Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, will be proceeded by a multi-agency delegation, led by Doan Hoai Anh, head of the SBV’s Department for International Relations.
The project had its first phase, from 2005 to 2010, implemented in Hai Duong, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh and Thai Binh.
The second phase, from 2008 to 2013, is being carried out in the northern Red river delta localities, namely Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Ha Nam and Thanh Hoa.
The project aims to fund the creation of a sustainable and sufficient supply of clean water to local communities, assist households to upgrade hygiene facilities and raise people’s awareness of the use of clean water and hygiene facilities.
It also works to enhance communal authorities’ capacity in designing plans, managing infrastructure projects and facilitating the implementation of community initiatives in the field.-VNA
