The International Forum on Green Technology and Management 2011 took place in the central city of Da Nang on July 28 and 29.

The event aimed to offer researchers and lecturers from Asian countries a chance to exchange experience and knowledge in dealing with environmental issues, especially the effective use of natural resources and energy saving.

The delegates agreed that Vietnam’s rapid growth and increasing exploitation of natural resources, along with its industrialisation and modernisation process, have put increasing pressure on the environment.

Environmental pollution has become a barrier for the country’s growth and socio-economic development, they said.

They also stressed the importance of protecting the environment in line with the country’s growth and development in the future.

During the two-day event, delegates visited Vietnam’s largest ethanol plant in the central province of Quang Nam, which is also one of three largest plants in Southeast Asia, invested at an initial cost of 600 billion VND

The annual event was jointly organised by the Green Technology Management Research Team, the Chia Nan University of Pharmacy and Science, the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the Da Nang University and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology./.
