Scholarships granted to fishermen’s children
As many as 120 scholarships, worth 3 million VND each, were presented to
children of coast guard and fisheries surveillance officers and
fishermen in central Da Nang city and Quang Nam province on
August 23.

The beneficiaries are those who made outstanding efforts to achieve good academic results, many of them come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The scholarships were part of a programme entitled “Joining efforts to protect sovereignty over waters in the East Sea ”.
The programme is expected to grant scholarships worth nearly 800 million VND (38,000 USD) in total to 265 students in the central region this year.
Launched by the Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper in May 2014, the programme has received nearly 42 billion VND (2 million USD) from readers at home and abroad.-VNA
