The Financing and Promoting Technology Group, or FPT, and Mekong Capital will pick up strategic stakes in the Vietnam-Australia International School.

Under a deal they signed in HCM City on May 27, FPT will pay 10.7 million USD for a 25-percent share in VAS and Mekong Capital will pay 6 million USD for 14-percent ownership.

By investing in VAS, the FPT has a complete education port-folio ranging from kindergarten to its FPT University .

“VAS is an extraordinary company run by an excellent team, and is well positioned to fulfill its vision to become the leading player in Vietnam ’s fast-growing educational services sector,” Thomas Lanyi, director of Mekong Capital, said at the signing ceremony.

Founded in 2004, VAS has 12 schools offering kindergarten to 12 th grade education with around 5,000 students who are taught in both Vietnamese and English.

On completing the 12 th grade an average VAS student can score 6.5-7 points in the IELTS Academic English language test, a prerequisite to study abroad./.
