Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Bui Ba Bong has spotlighted the vital contributions made by science and technology to agricultural achievements.
At a conference held in Hanoi on Feb. 2 to review the application of science and technology in agriculture, Deputy Minister Bong said that hi-tech agricultural development is the State’s policy for the future, with the aim of creating breakthroughs in the field
Head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Science and Technology and Environment Department Trieu Van Hung said that the application of science and technology has helped promote agriculture production restructuring.
The selection and creation of animal and plant breeds have helped increase farm products’ quantity and quality as well as their competitiveness, Hung added.
However, there remains limitations in scientific and technological applications and researchers and farmers are yet to establish close cooperation, which hinder the sector’s growth.
To increase the agricultural growth rate from 2.3 percent in 2007 to 3.5-4 percent in 2020, the ministry said that the best solution is to develop scientific and technological research and applications with a focus on renovating its management policy./.
