Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan stressed that the project will help improve the committee’s operational efficiency, and affirmed that the Party and State always treasure overseas Vietnamese as an indispensable part of the country.
Deputy Foreign Minister cum SCOV head Nguyen Thanh Son noted that the committee has launched many programmes to help Vietnamese expatriates learn more about the country’s life and changes.
Once completed, the headquarters will serve as a place for overseas Vietnamese to get together when coming back to the motherland.
The project, costing 210 billion VND (9.87 million USD), will cover an area of 670 square meters.
Over 4.5 million Vietnamese expats are living in nearly 130 nations and territories in the world./.
