Vu Thi Trang lost 21-11 and 21-17 to Ongbumrungpan B. of Thailand in the semi-final match on June 15 and left Singapore with her first bronze medal at a Southeast Asian Games.

It was another commendable result for Trang, who made some considerable progress in her career this year, rising to No 47 in the world.

In women’s basketball, Vietnam lost 82-50 to Malaysia, just missing a spot on the medal podium.

In the sepak takraw’s women doubles, Vietnam lost 2-0 to Thailand in the semi-finals and shared third place with Laos.

Vietnam has won 73 gold medals, 51 silvers and 58 bronzes to remain in third place on the medal tally. Thailand tops with 87 gold medals while Singapore is second with 82 gold medals.-VNA
