Korea’s leading chainstore Lotte Mart opened its second store in the country on July 1 with a total investment of 1.9 trillion VND (100 million USD) just two years after it launched the first one in new urban area of Phu My Hung in district 7.

Lotte Mart Phu Tho occupies all five lower shopping floors of the new building complex Everich with a total shopping area of 12,000 sq.m.

The supermarket is a complex that includes restaurants, fast-food shops, bookstores, cinema, drugstores, beauty clinics, hair and skin care centres and an 800sq.m playzone for kids.

The mart targets middle-class average-income clientele, according to Hong Pyong Gyu, general director of Lotte Vietnam Shopping.

Up to 95 percent of goods in the store are supplied by local manufacturers, and only five percent are imported from Korea, China and Japan, he said.

He added that from now to 2018, Lotte Mart plans to invest 5 billion USD in building 30 shopping centres in five major cities of Vietnam./.
