The trio Nguyen Thi Hoa, Nguyen Thai Linh and Nguyen Thi Quyen won 3-0 in a crucial match against Indonesia to take second place in the tournament. Earlier, they had easily beaten China , also by 3-0, but lost 0-3 to Thailand who were eventually crowned champions.
Vietnam grabbed their first silver medal at the Asian Beach Games in the women's sepak takraw (rattan ball kicking) team event in the day before.
The team defeated their hosts 2-1 in the final match of the round-robin event. Earlier, they beat Indonesia 2-1 but lost 0-2 to Thailand who were crowned champions.
The Beach Games have drawn 43 Asian teams competing in 13 events.-VNA
