Second turbine’ rotor successfully installed at Son La power plant

The rotor measures 15.589 metres in diameter, 2.816 metres in height and weighs over 1,000 tonnes.

Nguyen The Trinh, director of Lilama 10 company said that thesuccessful installation of second turbine would ensure electricitysupply during the dry season and control floods in the rainy season.

The second turbine is expected to generate electricity on April, 30.

Construction of the 37 trillion VND hydropower plant started inDecember 2005. It is designed to have six turbine groups with a combinedcapacity of 2,400 MW.

Once it swings into fulloperation in 2012, the Son La power plant will be the largest inSoutheast Asia, generating 10.2 billion kWh a year./.
