Security guards foil ATM robbery

ARomanian, named only as Ciprian, is caught using forged credit and ATMcards with Dong A and 10 other banks' names to withdraw over 300 millionVND (14,400 USD) from an ATM at the junction of Tran Cao Van and Hai BaTrung streets in District 3 at midnight.

He is handedover to the police. But an accomplice escaped. At the ATM police alsofound counterfeiting equipment carried by the men.

Inanother card fraud case, two Malaysian nationals are arrested in DaNang on Saturday for using fake credit cards to buy diamonds at ajeweller's in the Indochina Riverside Building on Bach DangStreet .

Ling Seng Koey, 24, and Chong Kon Hoi, 47, areseized by the security guards after staff found that the credit cardsthe two had used to pay 54 million VND (2,580 USD) are forged.

Another Malaysian who had accompanied them fled with the diamonds, butis arrested early the next morning. Police identified him as 30-year-oldWong Kar Wei and found on him a number of diamond necklaces, 18 creditcards, and several passports issued by ASEAN member countries.

The suspects, who entered Vietnam on July 27, had cheated many other DaNang shopping malls and supermarkets like Big C and Phi Long to thetune of nearly 60 million VND, the city police told a press conferenceon Aug.6 afternoon.-VNA

Deputy PM asks for highest education quality, safety for students

Sea turtle nests on Lam Dong's Hon Cau island for sixth time this year

Since the beginning of 2026, sea turtles have nested six times at three beaches on Hon Cau island, namely Nhat, Mui Tau and Ba Hon. Three nests were left undisturbed at safe locations, while another three were relocated to the incubation area for protection, involving a total of 246 eggs.
