The American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union (AmchamEU) on September 18 held a seminar on the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) negotiation process.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg Pham Sanh Chau, who is also head of the Vietnamese delegation, gave an introduction of the background, positive process, as well as the goal of finishing the negotiations before the end of 2014.

Representatives of the US firms pointed out the differences of negotiation between the Tran-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and EVFTA, particularly Vietnam ’s priorities in the talks, as well as the emerging difficulties.

Chau briefed them on Vietnam ’s coming activities to support the completion of the EVFTA negotiations at an early date.

He also underscored the contents that relate to the common benefits the enterprises may enjoy from this agreement, calling for more supports from this community.

AmchamEU leaders pledged to collect all the opinions of the chamber’s members to submit to the European Commission (EC) and European Parliament (EP).-VNA
