An international seminar entitled “Access to US Market – Experiences and Law” was held in the central city of Da Nang on November 10.

Representatives from over 100 businesses operating in such areas as farm produce, seafood, garment, footwear, woodwork, legal consultancy and intellectual property attended the seminar, which was co-organised by the Trade Promotion Department (TPD) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the US-based law firm Duane Morris LLP.

At the seminar, US law experts provided Vietnamese businesses with useful information on US import-export trade regulations; tax, tax rate and fee policies; and models and experiences in doing business in the country.

The participants paid attention to information on opportunities and risks when they invest in the US real estate market, regulations on food import-export and customer protection as well as special business cultures and consumption habits of the US people.

According to TPD, the seminar offered a chance for Vietnamese businesses to access the US legal system, especially Tax and Anti-dumping Laws, in order to minimise their risks while penetrating this market./.
