Seminar marks 60 years of Geneva agreement

A seminar was held in Algeria to mark the 60th anniversary of the Geneva Agreement.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria on July 20 held a seminar on theoccasion of the 60 th anniversary of the Geneva Agreement which putan end to war and restored peace in Indochina, including Vietnam.

Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador Vu The Hiep recalled thedomestic and international context and the negotiation process leadingto the signing of the Geneva peace agreement on July 20, 1954.

He pointed to the significance of the agreement to Vietnam’s fight fornational liberation, unification and territorial integrity, as well asthe national liberation movement in the world.

Atthe same time, the diplomat emphasized the relevance of lessons learntfrom the conference to the national construction, reform and defence atpresent.

Ambassador Hiep also took the occasion torefute allegations distorting the fact that Vietnam has sovereignty overHoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes.

Speakers at the seminar dwelled on the significance, importance andimpacts of the Geneva agreement on peace in Vietnam and Indochina, aswell as the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam and thelate President Ho Chi Minh in the triumph of Vietnam’s diplomatic sectorat that time.-VNA

Search efforts continue for Vietnamese fallen soldiers in Cambodia

Vietnamese in Laos, Singapore honour President Ho Chi Minh on National Day
