A seminar opened in Hanoi on May 16 to discuss measures to fulfil the master plan for building national nuclear power infrastructure for the 2011-2015 period.
Jointly held by the Vietnam Atomic Energy Department and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the five-day seminar also discussed human resource development for the nuclear power industry.
Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Dinh Tien said to fulfil the 2011-2015 master plan, focus should be placed on human resource development, completion of legal bases, conducting feasibility studies and preparing necessary conditions for contract signing of the building of a nuclear power plant.
He also spoke highly of IAEA’s support to Vietnam in developing nuclear power infrastructure via technical assistance projects.
Delegates’ contributions will help Vietnam design and conduct a training programme on nuclear technology.
IAEA and Vietnamese experts will soon discuss the completion of a national project on nuclear power information popularisation until 2020 for the Prime Minister to approve./.
