The Development Strategy Institute under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, in conjunction with the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham), held a seminar in Hanoi on March 18 to discuss issues on improving the business environment in Vietnam.

The seminar offered an opportunity for investors, experts, researchers and policymakers to exchange opinions on the development of seaport infrastructure, the presence of foreign businesses in the banking sector, and price management in nutritious food and pharmaceutical products.

Speaking at the event, head of the institute Bui Tat Thang said that with its rapid and sustainable economic growth, Vietnam is on its way to become an industrialised country by 2020.

To support this process, EuroCham annually releases its White Book, which focuses on analysing the impact of different economic aspects on European businesses operating in Vietnam, Thang said, adding that these problems, once resolved, will help boost Vietnam’s economic growth.

He stressed that based on the economic experts and businesses’ opinions raised during the seminar, the development strategy institute will develop short-and long-term policies in order to improve the investment environment in Vietnam.-VNA
