The life, career and great contributions of the late General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), Nguyen Van Linh, was the main topic of a seminar in Hanoi on June 25.

The seminar was hosted by the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration to celebrate the leader’s 95 th birthday which falls on July 1.

While opening the seminar, the academy’s director Prof. Dr. Le Huu Nghia said Nguyen Van Linh was an excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh and a resilient, faithful and dedicated communist party member who devoted his whole life to the struggle for national independence, socialism and people’s happiness.

Comrade Nguyen Van Linh was also a prestigious leader of the Party, people and army, and a reliable friend of international friends, said Nghia, who is also a member of the CPVCC.

With his outstanding and creative contributions during the renewal process, the late Party leader helped the country rise out of crisis, achieve stability and firmly advance on the path of international integration and development, he stressed.

Gen. Le Van Dung, member of the CPVCC’s Secretariat and Head of the Vietnam People’s Army’s General Politics Department, said in any positions whether in central and local agencies, Linh devoted all of his strengths and knowledge to the Party and people and placed the benefits of the revolution above personal interests. He was never tired of learning and always listened to opinions from his compatriots and comrades, Dung elaborated.

Ngo Vuong Anh, from the Nhan Dan (People’s) newspaper, highlighted the contributions of Nguyen Van Linh in his capacity as Secretary of the municipal Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, especially when the country faced numerous difficulties and challenges.

It was him who saw early on the need for renewal and then led the city’s pilot renewal to success, thereby drawing useful lessons for the Party to expand the renewal process to the whole country, Anh said./.
