It was announced during a press conference in Hanoi on December 21 which was co-held by the Department of Information and Education under the General Political Department of the Vietnam People’s Army, the Defence Ministry’s Vietnam Institute of Military History, and the Popularisation Department under the Party Central Committee’s Information and Education Commission.

The seminar will attract 350 delegates, including Party, State, Defence Ministry leaders, historical witnesses, former generals and commanders, and researchers in and outside the army.

It aims to reiterate the sound leadership of the Vietnamese Party and State, their determination to defeat all invaders to protect the nation’s territorial integrity and sacred sovereignty, as well as their consistent policy of helping the Cambodian people overthrow the genocidal regime.

They are due to make clear army building, close and effective joint work between the Vietnam People’s Army and Cambodian people to bring in the January 7, 1979 victory, opening a new era for peace, national independence and social progress in both nations.

Deputy head of the institute Col. Truong Mai Huong said the event will feature three sessions, including reports retracing national defence war in the southwestern border from 1975-1979, the Vietnamese military arts, the role and historical significance of the victory to Vietnamese, Cambodian and world people.

The event will provide fairly comprehensive materials about the war process, he added.-VNA
