Senegal has sought to promote its cooperation with Vietnam in various fields, especially economics, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria and Senegal was told upon presenting his credentials to the Senegalese authorities.
From March 3-6, Ambassador Vu The Hiep had meeting with the host country’s Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Energy, who said they highly valued the long-standing friendship with Vietnam.
The Senegalese side said they hope Vietnam will send a high-ranking delegation to participate in the 15th Francophone summit, which is slated to take place in Dakar on November 29-30.
During the visit, Ambassador Hiep also met with the Vietnamese community there during which he expressed his hope that the expatriates will make more contributions to strengthening bilateral companionship.
According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), Africa was Vietnam's second largest grain importer in 2013, behind China. Currently, the country exports rice to 30 out of the 55 African countries, with Senegal among the major consumers.-VNA
