Shares on the HCM Stock Exchange continued to plunge on June 14, with the VN-Index closing down 0.26 percent at 441.54 points – even though gainers outnumbered losers by 126-96.
Market value soared by 24 percent over June 13's session to nearly 1.1 trillion VND (52.4 million USD) on a volume of 61.9 million shares.
Of the 10 leading shares in terms of capitalisation, only estate developer Vincom (VIC) hit the daily limit of 5 percent. Meanwhile, Vietinbank (CTG), property developer Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAG), PetroVietnam Finance (PVF) and Sacombank (STB) gained between 0.5-4.1 percent.
Eximbank closed unchanged, while four stocks dropped. Insurer Bao Viet Holdings (BVH) and Masan Group (MSN) lost about 2 percent and Phu My Fertilisers and software producer FPT (FPT) fell 1 percent.
Sacombank (STB) was the most-active code with 2.1 million shares changing hands.
The HNX-Index on the Hanoi Stock Exchange slid 1.68 percent to 79.51 points after earlier gains on June 13.
The value of trade also jumped to more than 1 trillion VND representing an increase of 39 percent. Trading volume rose 37 percent to 83.5 million shares, higher than that of the southern bourse.
Kim Long Securities Co (KLS), the most actively traded stock, saw 9.6 million shares change hands./.
