Shipwreck victims brought to shore

A rescue ship brought one survivor and two bodies from the wrecked cargo ship Bulk Jupiter to Vung Tau city in southern coastal Ba Ria – Vung Tau province, on January 4.

The Bahamas nationality ship with 19 members on board, carrying iron ores from Malaysia to China, sank at 150 nautical miles off Vung Tau southeastern coast on January 2.

The survivor, who is now in stable condition, is chef Angelito Capindo Rojas, while the two bodies were Captain Ronel Acueza Andrin and a 24-year-old sailor Jerome Maquilang Dinoy.

Search is continuing for the 16 other crewmembers, with the participation of three Vietnamese ships and 8 foreign vessels during the past two days, according to director general of the maritime search and rescue coordinating centre Nguyen Anh Vu.

Dreadful weather, believed causing Bulk Jupiter’s accident, has been tricky for searching efforts.-VNA
