Singapore (VNA) – Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Co-ordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean is paying an official visit to the United Kingdom from March 22-26 in order to intensify multifaceted cooperation.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Teo had meetings with UK Minister for the Cabinet Office David Lidington, Secretary of State for Defence Gavin Williamson and Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation Sam Gyimah, among others.

Both sides reaffirmed the longstanding and multifaceted relations between Singapore and the UK, while exchanging opinions on measures to strengthen cooperation in security, monetary and economics.

They also had a wide-ranging discussion on international security as well as developments in Asia and Europe.

At Teo’s meeting with Secretary Williamson, they discussed the UK’s defence cooperation with Singapore and the Five Power Defence Arrangements, which will commemorate its 50th anniversary in 2021.

After the UK visit, Teo will visit Ireland from March 27-29.-VNA
