Singapore and India have agreed to continue working together for stronger defence interactions.

The agreement was reached during talks between Defence Minister of Singapore Ng Eng Hen and his Indian counterpart Arun Jaitley in New Delhi on August 19.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over the wide-ranging and comprehensive defence exchanges between the two countries and agreed that the strengthening of such relations is for mutual benefits.

They also shared views on the regional and global security issues, including the Asia-Pacific situation, acknowledging the role of the ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting Plus (ADMM+) in promoting dialogue and consensus in the region.

Singapore and India will celebrate the 50 th founding anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties in 2015.

Earlier, Ng Eng Hen met with India ’s Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.-VNA
