Singapore on October 17 inaugurated its first “green” factory whose construction-to-operation process is environmentally friendly.
Known as Greenhub, it is the first industrial building to quantify the carbon footprint during its construction.
Located on an area of 18,000 square metres, the building is owned by Greenpac, whose redesigned packaging solutions encourage environmental sustainability.
The building’s self-tinting windows act as a natural cooler, regulating excess sunlight and heat. The solar panels installed on the rooftop of office buildings help offset an annual energy consumption of 160,000 kWh per year.
Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam described Greenpac a success in considering the protection of the environment as a commercial strategy.
He affirmed that small and medium-sized enterprises can also grow well through renovation activities with the Government’s support.-VNA
