The games village of the first Asian Youth Games (AYG) was officially open in Singapore on June 26.

The game village, located at the Swissotel, will be home to 1,400 athletes from 42 territories who will attend the first Asian Youth Games for the next two weeks, the Channel News Asia (CNA) reported.

The Philippine football team, whose members have been quarantined for a week after a player came down with H1N1, also made an appearance at the village.

Host country Singapore was the latest to be welcomed into the village, joining athletes from Kazakhstan, Iran and Qatar.

About 200 athletes have settled into the village so far - mostly footballers who are here for the qualifiers. More will arrive over the weekend, according to CNA./.
