Singapore and Thailand have established close historical ties and the relations have expanded over the years, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said on the occasion of a visit by Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha.

He noted that Singapore is the second largest investor in Thailand and the top investor from ASEAN for the last few years, with total investment topping 740 million USD.

Bilateral trade has grown steadily over the last decade to reach about 22 billion USD, he added.

PM Lee also said over half a million Thais visited Singapore in 2014 and about 800,000 Singaporeans also travelled to Thailand during the same period of time.

During the Thai PM’s visit, the two governments are expected to sign several agreements on cooperation on tourism, taxation, and communication.-VNA
