Singapore’s Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ASME) has announced its plan to open a representative office in Cambodia early next year.
The ASME Executive Manager, Bryan Teh, said that he expected the office to facilitate business opportunities worth 200 million USD a year from this market for its members, which is likely to catch up with Vietnam in the next five years.
Singaporean SMEs seem to be lagging behind their partners from other regional economies such as Taiwan , the Republic of Korea and Hong Kong and are losing out on business opportunities, he said.
Teh added that ASME would focus on infrastructure projects and educational services in Phnom Penh .
The decision to open an ASME representative office in Phnom Penh came after the Singaporean Government issued a policy to encourage its enterprises to promote their operations overseas.
ASME plans to open representative offices in 20 other countries later this year, including Vietnam , China and Uzbekistan./.
