Singapore (VNA) – Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on July 14 began an official visit to Mongolia.

This was the first official visit to Mongolia by a Singaporean prime minister since the two countries set up diplomatic ties in 1970.

During the visit, the two sides will explore opportunities for Singaporean companies penetrate into Mongolia's energy market.

Singaporean PM Lee and his Mongolian counterpart Jargatulga Erdenebat witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the energy sector.

Under the agreement, Singapore will share its experience in using clean technology and making plans, managing, storing and distributing energy and gas.

The t wo sides will work on projects that help improve the supply of energy for households and businesses in Mongolia, as well as reduce pollution from the burning of coal for heating.

During the visit, Prime Minister Lee is scheduled to have meetings with President Tsakhia Elbegdorj and Parliament Speaker Miyeegombo Enkhbold.-VNA
