The Vietnamese Ministry of Health on Sept. 13 confirmed the sixth fatality case of A/H1N1 flu in the country.

The victim, a 19-year-old girl, was from the southern province of Ben Tre.

According to the ministry, the girl started her illness on September 3. She decided to buy medicine to treat by herself at home but there was no progress. She was hospitalised on September 5.

Her sample tested positive for the flu virus on September 11. Despite being treated with Tamiflu, she died on September 12.

Her death followed three others in Ho Chi Minh City and two in southern provinces of Dong Nai and Khanh Hoa.

Only on September 13, 220 more A/H1N1 cases were reported, including 150 in the south, 35 in the north, 24 in the central and the rest (11) in the Central Highlands.

With 220 reported patients, the total number of A/H1N1 cases in Vietnam is now 4,464, of which 3,350 have been discharged from hospital.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation in Vietnam announced that a total of 3,200 people in the world have died of the disease so far./.
