Hanoi (VNA) – Deputies at the first session of the 14th National Assembly (NA) continued working on personnel for senior positions on the sixth working day, July 27.

In the morning, lawmakers voted on the Vice President, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court, and the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy.

After the election results were announced and the NA approved resolutions on electing these positions, new Chief Justice Nguyen Hoa Binh took his oath and gave an inaugural address.

Binh’s swearing-in ceremony was broadcast live on television and radio.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc proposed the structure and number of Government members during the new parliament’s five-year tenure, which was later discussed by NA deputies in their delegations.

In the afternoon, the parliament approved a resolution on the NA’s supervision programme in 2017 after its draft was submitted by NA Secretary General Nguyen Hanh Phuc.

Before the deputies approved a resolution on the structure and number of Cabinet members, the Secretary General reported outcomes of the group discussions about the issue. Another report delivered by PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc explained more about the proposed structure.

After that, the Government leader proposed the NA approve the appointment of Deputy Prime Ministers, ministers and other Government members. The deputies then discussed in groups the PM’s proposal.

On July 28, the parliament is set to approve resolutions on ratifying the proposed assignments and the President’s suggested Vice Chairpersons and members of the Council for National Defence and Security.

It will also mull over the 2014 State budget balance sheet and approve a resolution on the establishment of specialised supervisory delegations.-VNA
